Job description
A thriving 11–18 school in Oxford, rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, is seeking a passionate and dynamic Music ECT to join their Performing Arts Faculty from January 2026. This is a full-time, permanent post offering a structured induction, regular mentoring, and excellent opportunities for creative development. About the Role The successful teacher will deliver Music across KS3–KS5 , nurturing musical appreciation, performance skills, and composition techniques. They will teach in an environment that values artistic expression and celebrates both classical and contemporary music traditions. ECTs in this department benefit from smaller class sizes, observation-based mentoring, and professional development focused on creative pedagogy. The role also includes opportunities to direct school choirs, support productions, and contribute to the school’s rich calendar of concerts and performances . About the School Music is a celebrated part of school life, and the Performing Arts Department is central to the community’s identity. The school boasts specialist music rooms, soundproof practice suites, and a recording studio . Students regularly participate in local festivals, national competitions, and musical tours. The leadership team provides a nurturing environment for early-career teachers, ensuring ECTs have the confidence, time, and resources to flourish professionally. Experience and Qualifications PGCE/PGDE with QTS in Music or related discipline. Strong performance or conducting background. A genuine enthusiasm for inspiring young musicians.
