Job description
A prestigious independent 11–18 school in Birmingham is seeking a passionate and dedicated Psychology Teacher to join its successful Social Science faculty from January 2026 . This is a full-time, permanent position, offering an exciting opportunity to teach GCSE and A-Level Psychology to small, motivated classes within a high-achieving and supportive school environment. Key Details Role: Psychology Teacher (KS4–KS5; GCSE/A-Level) Start: January 2026 | Contract: Permanent, full-time School: Independent, 11–18, Birmingham Suitability: Experienced teachers and ECTs welcome Exam Boards: AQA/OCR/Edexcel (advantageous) About the School This outstanding independent school, with around 850 pupils , is renowned for its academic excellence, inclusive ethos, and excellent pastoral care . The school consistently achieves exceptional results at GCSE and A-Level , with a large number of students progressing to study Psychology and related disciplines at top UK universities. The Social Science Department is dynamic and forward-thinking, fostering a culture of curiosity and intellectual engagement. Psychology is one of the most popular A-Level subjects, with students encouraged to explore research methods, cognitive development, and social behaviour through a mix of theoretical and practical learning. The department also runs psychology research projects, guest lectures, and university links to enhance students’ learning experience. The Role – What You’ll Do Teach engaging and inspiring Psychology lessons at KS4 and KS5 . Deliver well-planned lessons that encourage critical thinking and academic curiosity. Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations, ensuring excellent progress. Contribute to curriculum development, enrichment programmes, and departmental planning. Foster an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that motivates all learners. Person Specification (Essential) Degree in Psychology or a closely related field; QTS/PGCE required. Strong subject knowledge and passion for Psychology. Ability to teach confidently across KS4 and KS5. Excellent classroom management and communication skills. Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and high teaching standards.
