Job description
A busy and well-maintained secondary school in Dudley is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join its facilities team. This is a full-time, permanent role, ideal for someone with practical skills, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment. The Caretaker plays a key role in ensuring that the school buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and fully operational, supporting the smooth running of daily activities and events. Role Responsibilities As a Caretaker, your responsibilities will include: Maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of school buildings and grounds. Opening and closing school premises, including monitoring alarms and access points. Conducting routine checks of facilities, reporting maintenance issues, and assisting with minor repairs. Supporting the setup and breakdown for school events, assemblies, and extracurricular activities. Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety procedures. Coordinating with contractors and suppliers for maintenance work as needed. Managing inventory of consumables and cleaning materials, reporting replenishment needs. Candidate Requirements Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, or premises role is desirable. Practical skills and experience with general maintenance tasks. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe working practices. Reliability, initiative, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
