Job description
An ambitious Independent School in Southwark is seeking an energetic, reflective Year 1 Teacher to join KS1 on a Full-Time basis from January 2026. The successful Year 1 Teacher will be invited to pre-term planning before January 2026, will attend induction in January 2026, and will begin teaching from January 2026 as the Year 1 Teacher. As an Independent School the setting offers small class sizes, excellent indoor and outdoor provision and a supportive professional community for every Year 1 Teacher. • Independent School recruiting a Year 1 Teacher for a Full-Time post with a January 2026 start. • Year 1 Teacher to join a nurturing Independent School in Southwark - planning and induction commence January 2026. • This Full-Time Year 1 Teacher role includes bespoke CPD and mentor time from January 2026. School snapshot - Independent School context • A Southwark Independent School with strong pastoral care and well-resourced KS1 spaces to support the Year 1 Teacher. • Emphasis on language development, systematic phonics and creative curriculum time - ideal for the Year 1 Teacher. • A structured CPD and coaching programme the Year 1 Teacher will access from induction in January 2026 and beyond. Year 1 Teacher Responsibilities The appointed Year 1 Teacher will: plan and deliver systematic phonics and guided reading as the Year 1 Teacher; teach sequenced writing and practical maths alongside well-designed continuous provision as the Year 1 Teacher; use high-quality formative assessment to personalise learning as the Year 1 Teacher; lead small-group interventions and run parent-teacher meetings as the Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will prepare resources before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and teach from January 2026 as the Year 1 Teacher. Year 1 Teacher Requirements & profile We are seeking a Year 1 Teacher with QTS or equivalent, confident KS1 practice and a passion for early literacy. The Year 1 Teacher should be reflective, creative and able to build strong partnerships with families. Availability for pre-term planning prior to January 2026, attendance at induction in January 2026, and a Full-Time start from January 2026 as the Year 1 Teacher is essential.
