Job description
Location: Norwich, Norfolk Contract Type: Full-time Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Norwich. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs and helping them access learning in a positive, structured, and nurturing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCo, class teachers, and other support staff to assist pupils with a wide range of learning needs. You will support pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, helping them develop academic skills, social and emotional wellbeing, and confidence in their learning. Your role will include assisting with personalised learning programmes, implementing strategies to support pupils’ individual needs, and monitoring progress. You will also help prepare classroom resources, support interventions, and contribute to assessments where required. Ensuring pupils feel safe, valued, and included in all aspects of school life will be central to your work. Collaboration is key. You will work alongside colleagues to create a supportive, inclusive environment and will communicate regularly with staff, parents, and carers to ensure consistency and continuity of learning. Key Responsibilities: Support pupils with SEND, adapting activities to individual needs Assist teachers in delivering high-quality lessons and interventions Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to teaching staff Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development The successful candidate will have: Experience supporting pupils with SEND (desirable) Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach Good communication and teamwork skills Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare Enthusiasm for helping pupils reach their full potential To be considered for this position, please forward an up-to-date CV as soon as possible.
