Job description
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Tonbridge, starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and enjoys supporting children during their most formative years, helping them develop key skills in communication, literacy, numeracy, and social interaction. The school has a strong ethos of inclusion, collaboration, and child-centred learning. Staff work closely together to ensure every child feels safe, confident, and motivated to learn. Senior leadership is highly supportive, providing mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities for staff. The Role As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging learning experiences across the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. You will assist with activities, continuous provision, and targeted interventions, helping children develop academically, socially, and emotionally. You will also observe and assess children’s progress, contributing to planning and supporting individual learning goals. You will support pupils’ social and emotional development, helping them build independence, confidence, and positive behaviour. Collaboration with colleagues, parents, and carers is key to providing consistent and effective support for all children. Key Responsibilities Support teaching and learning across the EYFS curriculum Assist with delivering activities, continuous provision, and targeted interventions Promote early literacy, numeracy, and communication skills Support children’s social, emotional, and personal development Observe, assess, and contribute to tracking children’s progress Work collaboratively with the EYFS team and wider school staff Support children during transitions, routines, and outdoor learning Maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and school initiatives Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times Who We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will: Have previous experience working with young children in EYFS or Nursery Be nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills Be proactive, flexible, and reliable Have a clear understanding of child development and early learning Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing Location The school is located in Tonbridge, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community.
