Job description
School Business Manager – Independent School (January Start) Location: Surrey Start Date: January 2026 Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive (Independent School scale) A well-regarded independent school is seeking an experienced and strategic School Business Manager to oversee the effective financial and operational management of the school. About the School This independent school prides itself on providing an exceptional all-round education with a strong emphasis on academic excellence, enrichment, and modern facilities. Leadership is forward-thinking, and staff enjoy a warm, supportive professional community. About the Role The School Business Manager will work as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. Responsibilities include: • Overseeing school finances, budgets, payroll, and financial planning. • Managing estates, IT, HR, and administrative operations. • Ensuring compliance with health & safety and safeguarding policies. • Coordinating contracts, procurement, and external suppliers. • Providing strategic advice to senior leadership and governors. Requirements • Proven experience as a School Business Manager or similar senior operational role. • Strong financial literacy and knowledge of school compliance frameworks. • Leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
