Job description
A welcoming and well-established 11–18 secondary school in Telford is seeking an enthusiastic English ECT to join its thriving English department from January 2026 . This role is ideal for a newly qualified teacher looking for a genuinely supportive start in a calm, well-led school. The Role You will teach English across KS3–KS4 , working within a department that places a strong emphasis on high-quality texts, structured literacy development and confident written expression. Schemes of work are clearly planned and sequenced, allowing ECTs to focus on delivery, behaviour and building classroom confidence. Lessons balance whole-class reading, explicit modelling and guided practice, with opportunities to develop creative writing and oracy as confidence grows. ECT Support This school has an excellent track record of developing Early Career Teachers. Support includes: A reduced timetable in your first two terms A dedicated English mentor with weekly protected meeting time Regular coaching sessions focused on planning, behaviour and assessment Opportunities to observe experienced teachers within and beyond the department The School Rated Good by Ofsted, the school is known for its calm learning environment, strong routines and respectful relationships.
