Job description
A prestigious independent school in Southport is seeking an experienced and organised Facilities Manager to join their senior operations team ASAP . This is a full-time, permanent position overseeing the maintenance, security, and efficient running of the school’s campus and buildings. • Facilities Manager – full-time, permanent • Independent 11–18 school in Southport • ASAP start • Competitive independent sector salary About the Role The Facilities Manager will lead the day-to-day management of the school’s facilities and premises, ensuring a safe, secure and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves strategic planning, budget oversight, and managing a small team of site staff. Key responsibilities include: • Managing the maintenance and repair of school buildings and grounds • Overseeing site staff, including caretakers and cleaners • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and statutory regulations • Coordinating with contractors and service providers • Planning and managing facilities budgets • Supporting school events, lettings, and operational logistics • Implementing sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives The Ideal Candidate • Previous experience in facilities management or senior site management • Strong leadership and organisational skills • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and compliance • Ability to manage staff, contractors, and budgets effectively • Proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented • Commitment to safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment About the School This independent school in Southport is renowned for academic excellence, strong pastoral care, and first-class facilities.
