Job description
Geography ECT required January 2026 Good mixed school based in Hertford Geography ECT to join a dynamic, collaborative and well-respected Humanities faculty Our Client is looking for a Geography ECT to work within a high-performing secondary school in Hertford. This is a full-time role teaching Geography at KS3 and KS4, with strong potential for development into wider responsibilities as experience grows. The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced subject mentor and a friendly departmental team who value fresh ideas and enthusiasm. School Information This 11 to 18 mixed school educates approximately 1,300 students and continues to deliver excellent academic results, with 93 percent of pupils achieving grades 9 to 4 in English and Maths. The school promotes a strong culture of respect, ambition and inclusivity, with good behaviour and positive relationships evident across the site. The Geography department emphasises global awareness, sustainability, fieldwork and geographical skills, supported by thoughtfully planned schemes of work and up-to-date resources. Students are encouraged to explore both physical and human geography through case studies, enquiry-based learning and real-world applications. ECTs at the school benefit from a structured induction framework, additional non-contact time, regular observations with developmental feedback, and access to whole-school CPD on behaviour, assessment and curriculum design. Staff describe the culture as friendly, analytical and academically driven, with pastoral care and staff wellbeing taken seriously by leaders.
