Job description
Location: Lincoln, Lincolnshire Organisation: MDMS – School Support Services Contract Type: Part-Time | Term-Time Only Hours: 1–2 hours per day, Monday to Friday Support Children During the Most Important Part of the Day Midday at a school is more than just a meal break. It’s a time for children to recharge, play, and develop social skills. For some pupils, it’s a highlight of the day; for others, it can be a challenging or overwhelming time. MDMS is seeking Midday Meal Supervisors to join primary schools across Lincoln . This role is perfect for anyone who enjoys working with children, wants flexible, term-time hours, and wants to make a real difference in the daily lives of pupils. Your role is essential in providing a safe, structured, and positive environment during lunchtimes, helping children feel confident, included, and supported. Key Responsibilities The responsibilities of a Midday Meal Supervisor include: Supervision of Pupils Overseeing children in dining halls, classrooms, corridors, and playgrounds Ensuring safety, monitoring behaviour, and intervening when necessary Supporting Mealtimes Helping younger or vulnerable children during meals Encouraging polite behaviour and independence at the table Managing Play and Social Interaction Supervising outdoor and indoor play Promoting inclusive games and teamwork Encouraging children to resolve minor conflicts peacefully Providing Emotional Support Assisting pupils who feel anxious, upset, or overwhelmed Being a friendly, approachable adult they can trust Health, Safety, and First Aid Awareness of allergies, dietary needs, and medical conditions Administering basic first aid when necessary (training provided) Reporting accidents, incidents, or safeguarding concerns promptly Team Collaboration Working with teachers, teaching assistants, and lunchtime staff Maintaining smooth transitions between lunch, play, and afternoon lessons Routine and Structure Ensuring lunchtime runs smoothly by maintaining routines and expectations Supporting consistent behaviour management policies Who Should Apply No formal qualifications are required.
