Job description
An accomplished primary school in Richmond is recruiting a hands-on School Business Manager to join the senior team from January 2026. The School Business Manager will oversee budget preparation and monitoring, lead procurement and contract management, and manage premises and health & safety to ensure a safe, efficient school environment. This School Business Manager role in Richmond will play a pivotal part in strategic planning and in ensuring that financial and operational systems support excellent teaching and learning. • School Business Manager required for an operational leadership role • School Business Manager required to work within a thriving primary school in Richmond • School Business Manager to oversee finance, administration and site development The School Business Manager will prepare monthly management reports, liaise with auditors, lead on capital project delivery and line-manage administrative and site staff. The successful School Business Manager will be expected to begin in January 2026, with a handover arranged before January 2026 to support financial year planning. Responsibilities Lead budget development, cashflow monitoring and monthly financial reporting. Oversee procurement strategy, contract negotiation and supplier performance. Manage premises projects, maintenance planning and H&S compliance. Provide financial guidance to the headteacher and governors, preparing reports for governance meetings. Line-manage administrative and facilities staff and develop efficient office systems. Person specification Experienced operational/finance professional with demonstrable school or public-sector experience as a School Business Manager. Strong financial management skills, confident with accounting packages and financial reporting. Practical experience of premises management, health & safety and contract oversight. Effective leader with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with governors, staff and external stakeholders across Richmond. Able to commence January 2026 and to attend pre-start meetings prior to January 2026. This role offers a School Business Manager the chance to influence strategic resource allocation and to support a high-performing Richmond school from January 2026.
