Job description
Are you an experienced and proactive School Business Manager looking for a senior operational role from January 2026? Do you want to lead the business function of a school in Newham, helping to deliver strong financial controls, effective HR and efficient premises management? Wayman Education is recruiting a School Business Manager for a busy school in Newham. The successful School Business Manager will manage budgets, produce monthly management accounts, oversee payroll and pensions, and ensure robust procurement and contract management. The School Business Manager will also be responsible for health & safety and premises issues, and will line-manage the school’s finance and administrative team. You will be expected to begin in January 2026, and to support budget-setting processes from January 2026. Position Details: School Business Manager – School, Newham Start Date – January 2026 Contract – Permanent, Full-Time Salary – Competitive, dependent on experience The Role The School Business Manager will prepare annual budgets, oversee cashflow and manage payroll and pensions. You will produce monthly management accounts, manage supplier contracts and ensure compliance. The School Business Manager will liaise with governors and senior leaders, providing clear financial insight and operational leadership. The role is based in Newham, with the successful School Business Manager expected to take up post in January 2026. Person specification for the School Business Manager: • Qualified accountant or proven track record as a School Business Manager. • Strong experience in budgeting, payroll and financial reporting as a School Business Manager. • Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills; able to start January 2026 in Newham.
