Job description
Psychology Teacher - Merton (Independent School) 🧠 We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Psychology Teacher to join a prestigious independent school in the borough of Merton. This is an excellent opportunity to cover a maternity leave, starting in January 2026 , within a high-achieving and supportive academic environment. The Role The school is looking for a qualified and engaging Psychology Teacher with proven experience teaching the subject at A-Level . The ideal candidate will be adept at fostering a deep and critical understanding of the human mind and behavior. Your key responsibilities will include: Delivering exceptional and thought-provoking lessons in Psychology to students up to A-Level. Developing and implementing a rigorous curriculum that challenges students and prepares them for university-level study. Providing one-on-one and small-group support to ensure every student reaches their full potential. Contributing to the department's strong track record of outstanding A-Level results. Actively participating in the wider school community and its pastoral life. Candidate Requirements To be considered for this rewarding position, you should have: A degree in Psychology or a closely related field. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (e.g., PGCE). Proven experience teaching Psychology at the A-Level, with a history of achieving excellent student outcomes. A deep understanding of the AQA or other relevant A-Level Psychology specifications. A commitment to academic excellence and a passion for inspiring young people. The ability to work collaboratively within a dedicated team. Salary & Application The salary for this position is competitive and will be based on the school's own pay scale, commensurate with your experience and qualifications. This role is a fixed-term contract for maternity cover, with the potential for a longer-term position.
