Job description
An ambitious and experienced Head of Humanities is required to lead a thriving department within an Outstanding Mixed school in Enfield. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic direction and development of humanities subjects (History, Geography, Religious Education) across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, inspiring both students and staff. Responsibilities Provide strong leadership and management for the Humanities department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages. Develop and implement an engaging and challenging Humanities curriculum that fosters a love of inquiry and critical thinking about the world and its people. Monitor and evaluate the progress and attainment of students in Humanities subjects, implementing effective intervention strategies. Line manage and support the professional development of teachers within the Humanities department. Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in one of the core humanities subjects. Proven experience of successfully teaching at least one humanities subject at the secondary level, including A-Level. Strong subject knowledge in the humanities and a clear vision for curriculum development across these disciplines. Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team. Benefits Outer London Payscale (Leadership Scale commensurate with experience).
