As HR Officer, you would be joining a well-structured administrative team playing a pivotal role in staff recruitment, compliance, administration, and ensuring the smooth running of HR processes across the school. HR Department: The HR Department oversees all staffing processes across teaching, support, senior leadership, and operational teams. The department ensures full compliance with safer recruitment, DBS regulations, employment legislation, staff welfare, performance management systems, contracts, payroll liaison, and record maintenance. As HR Officer, you will play a central role in the day-to-day functioning of the HR department, working closely with the HR Manager, School Business Manager, Headteacher, and external agencies. Your duties will include: • Managing recruitment cycles from job adverts to onboarding. • Conducting DBS checks, right-to-work checks, references, and safeguarding documentation. • Preparing employment contracts, offer letters, and induction materials. • Maintaining accurate digital and paper-based personnel records. • Supporting payroll with monthly updates, contract changes, and staff absences. • Managing staff attendance and maintaining accurate absence records. • Supporting employee relations, including queries, meetings, and welfare checks. • Coordinating training sessions, CPD records, and performance review systems. • Updating HR policies to remain compliant with government guidelines. • Supporting new staff induction and ensuring smooth integration into the school. • Administering maternity/paternity leave processes and flexible working requests. • Managing data for HR reports, staff turnover analysis, and audit preparation. • Ensuring confidential handling of all HR matters. The HR department plays an essential role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students; therefore, accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail are critical. Requirements: • Strong HR administration experience, ideally in an education setting. • Solid understanding of HR legislation, recruitment, and compliance. • Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office applications. • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. • Exceptional organisation and attention to detail. • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and confidentiality. • CIPD Level 3 or above (desired but not essential).
