Job description
An Outstanding Ofsted-rated Mixed Comprehensive School in Hillingdon, West London, known for its excellent staff retention and highly successful Sixth Form, is seeking a Teacher of Science (Physics Specialist) for a Maternity Cover, Full-Time contract, commencing January 2026. Compensation & Contract Job Title: Teacher of Science Contract: Maternity Cover, Full-Time Start Date: January 2026 Salary: Paid on the Outer London Teachers' Pay Scales (MPS/UPS). The Role The successful Teacher of Science will teach Physics across Key Stages 3, 4 (GCSE), and 5 (A-Level), supporting students towards highly competitive university places. The Teacher of Science will inspire intellectual curiosity and scientific excellence in all pupils through high-quality practical lessons. The Teacher of Science will be expected to engage fully with the school's coaching and continuous professional development programme. This Maternity Cover role requires a highly professional and dynamic Teacher of Science. The appointed Teacher of Science must be committed to tracking and ensuring high progress and attainment for the duration of the cover. The department looks forward to welcoming a new, expert Teacher of Science to its team. We encourage applications from candidates ready to excel as a Teacher of Science for this fixed-term post. The final selection process will assess the candidate's subject mastery as a Teacher of Science. Requirements A degree in Physics or a related scientific field and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Proven ability to teach Physics to A-Level. Commitment to maintaining the school's high standards of pupil behaviour and achievement. Strong subject knowledge and excellent classroom management skills.
