Job description
English Teacher – Deepen Appreciation for Classic Literature and Mentor Students through Rigorous Analytical Writing – Watford A supportive and academically ambitious secondary school in Watford is seeking an experienced and inspiring Teacher of English with a focus on classical and pre-1900 literature from January 2026. English Teacher required from January 2026 Watford-based school with a clear focus on academic mastery in English. Ideal for a teacher passionate about Literature and high-level critical theory. You will teach English Language and Literature across KS3-KS5. The role includes planning rigorous lessons that deepen critical theory and analytical reading skills, with a focus on preparing students for challenging university-level literature study. Experience and Qualifications Qualified Teacher Status ( QTS ) and a relevant degree in English or Literature. Experience in a successful secondary school setting is highly advantageous. Demonstrable success in teaching challenging pre-1900 texts at A-Level. Commitment to contributing to the school's academic reading programme.
