Job description
We are currently seeking a highly organised and experienced Finance Officer to join a vibrant secondary school in Cambridge. This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to play a crucial role in the school's financial management and administrative operations. The school is known for its supportive working environment and commitment to both staff and student well-being. The Role The school is looking for a dedicated Finance Officer to manage the day-to-day financial activities of the school. You will be a key member of the administrative team, ensuring financial compliance and providing support to the wider school community. Your responsibilities will include: Managing the school's finances, including processing invoices, handling payments, and reconciling bank statements. Maintaining accurate financial records and preparing reports for the senior leadership team and governors. Assisting with budget management and financial forecasting to ensure the school's long-term stability. Handling all financial transactions related to school trips, events, and a variety of school activities. Liaising with suppliers, parents, and staff regarding financial queries and transactions. The ideal candidate will have experience using school-specific financial software such as SIMS FMS , IRIS Financials , Sage for Education , or Access Education Finance . Candidate Requirements: To be considered for this role, you should have: Proven experience working in a finance or accounting role, preferably within a school or public sector environment. Strong knowledge of financial software and systems, and an excellent understanding of accounting principles. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships. A proactive and flexible approach to work, and the ability to manage a busy workload.
