Performing Arts Technician Outstanding Secondary School – Southwark Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information This Outstanding 11–18 secondary school in Southwark is widely recognised for its exceptional Creative Arts provision and vibrant extracurricular programme. The school consistently achieves high academic outcomes while placing strong emphasis on cultural enrichment and performance opportunities. The Performing Arts department is a flagship area of the school, hosting: Annual productions Concerts and showcases Inter-school competitions Facilities include: Purpose-built theatre space Professional-grade lighting rigs Advanced sound systems Dedicated rehearsal studios To support its growing programme, the school is seeking an experienced and technically skilled Performing Arts Technician . Role Overview The Performing Arts Technician will provide technical and logistical support for Drama and Music lessons and productions. Key Responsibilities Set up lighting and sound equipment for performances Operate technical systems during live productions Maintain and service stage equipment Support rehearsals and practical lessons Manage inventory of costumes, props, and technical equipment Conduct safety checks and risk assessments Assist with recording and digital media production Support external performance events Prepare staging and technical layouts Advise staff and students on technical solutions This role requires technical expertise, flexibility for evening events, and strong organisational skills. Performing Arts Department The department delivers Drama and Music from KS3 to KS5 and is highly regarded within the local community. The technician plays a vital role in ensuring productions run smoothly and safely. Candidate Requirements Experience with stage lighting and sound systems Knowledge of theatre health and safety standards Strong technical troubleshooting ability Organised and proactive approach Ability to work flexible hours during productions Collaborative and supportive attitude Commitment to student enrichment Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
