The Role This is a position for a subject authority who thrives on advanced chemical theory and sophisticated laboratory work. Advanced Instruction: Deliver a rigorous A-Level (AQA/OCR A) or IB Higher Level curriculum, with a focus on organic mechanisms, transition metal chemistry, and thermodynamics. Oxbridge & Medical Mentorship: Provide specialist coaching for students sitting the NSAAS (Natural Sciences Admissions Assessment) and BMAT/UCAT , as well as mock academic interviews for Oxford, Cambridge, and Imperial College London. Olympiad Leadership: Oversee the school’s participation in the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Chemistry Olympiad and the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge (C3L6) . Research-Grade Practical’s: Lead high-level laboratory sessions, utilizing advanced apparatus to teach analytical techniques such as titration, distillation, and qualitative analysis. The Candidate Academic Pedigree: A First-Class or Upper Second-Class degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering) from a Russell Group University . A Master’s or PhD is highly advantageous. Subject Authority: A profound understanding of chemical principles, with the ability to discuss contemporary research—from nanotechnology to green chemistry—with scholarly precision. Quantitative Excellence: Strong mathematical fluency to support students through the increasingly complex physical chemistry components of the senior curriculum. Scholarly Presence: An articulate and engaging educator who can translate abstract molecular concepts into tangible learning experiences.
