Job description

We are seeking a patient, empathetic, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Slough, starting as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping pupils with additional needs thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and works closely with families, colleagues, and external professionals to provide personalised support for pupils with SEND. Staff collaborate to create a structured, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment where children feel valued, confident, and motivated. Senior leadership is approachable and offers mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities to help staff succeed. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to provide targeted one-to-one or small group support. You will help pupils access lessons, develop independence, and achieve their personal learning goals while promoting confidence, positive behaviour, and social skills. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND Assist in implementing personalised learning plans and EHCP targets Support pupils academically, socially, and emotionally Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours Help pupils engage fully with classroom lessons and activities Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress accurately Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, and support staff Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals when required Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment Support pupils during transitions, break times, and structured activities Attend staff meetings, training, and CPD sessions Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have experience supporting pupils with SEND in a school setting Be patient, empathetic, and resilient Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills Be proactive, adaptable, and reliable Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing The school is located in Slough, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community.
