Job description
Location: Enfield, North London Job Title: Intervention Teaching Assistant (SEN Focus) Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-Time / Term-Time Salary: Competitive, depending on experience About the Role A well-established primary school in Enfield is urgently seeking a dedicated Intervention Teaching Assistant to provide targeted support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) . This role is key to helping children overcome learning barriers, achieve academic progress, and develop confidence and independence. The successful candidate will deliver structured interventions in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning , both 1:1 and in small groups. You will work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and external specialists to create tailored strategies for each pupil , ensuring progress is monitored and supported consistently. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a tangible difference in children’s education , with the opportunity to see immediate results in the classroom. Key Responsibilities Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group interventions for SEN pupils Support literacy, numeracy, and communication skill development Encourage social-emotional learning , positive behaviour, and independence Maintain accurate progress records and communicate outcomes with SENCO and teachers Assist in classroom activities and provide differentiated support Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure consistent support Participate in professional development, meetings, and school initiatives Person Specification Experience supporting SEN pupils or delivering targeted interventions Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills Patience, adaptability, and empathy for children with complex needs Qualifications such as Level 3 Teaching Assistant, ELSA, or SEN-specific training Desirable: experience with Talk Boost, Lego Therapy, Little Wandle, or 1st Class@Number interventions. Professional Development Training in SEN interventions, behaviour management, and emotional literacy Mentoring from experienced SENCOs and teaching staff Opportunities to lead intervention programs or support new initiatives Exposure to modern teaching strategies and inclusive classroom practices Why Apply?
