Job description
An outstanding and high-achieving secondary school in Oxford is seeking a meticulous and proactive Science Technician to join its well-resourced Science department as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to support practical Science provision within a structured and academically ambitious environment where high standards and strong outcomes are consistently achieved. The Science department delivers a broad curriculum across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with strong uptake at GCSE and A Level. Practical work is central to teaching and learning, and the successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring lessons are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The Role Preparing equipment, materials, and chemicals for practical lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Supporting complex practical investigations and demonstrations Ensuring safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals in line with COSHH regulations Maintaining laboratory equipment and coordinating repairs where required Managing stock control and ordering supplies efficiently Assisting teaching staff during practical sessions when necessary Maintaining accurate compliance, risk assessment, and safety documentation Supporting whole-department organisation and preparation for examination practicals The Ideal Candidate Will Have Previous experience in a Science Technician or laboratory-based role Strong understanding of laboratory health & safety and COSHH procedures Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Confidence supporting practical work at GCSE and A Level The ability to prioritise workload in a busy school environment A proactive, reliable, and professional approach This Oxford secondary school is recognised for its exceptional academic standards, modern laboratory facilities, and supportive leadership team.
