Job description
Location: Southwark Position Type: Permanent Start Date: April 2025 An outstanding primary school in Southwark is looking for a dedicated and skilled Year 6 Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis in April 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-achieving school where student success is at the heart of everything they do. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping Year 6 students achieve their academic potential and ensuring their readiness for secondary school. Key Responsibilities Teach Year 6 students in all areas of the curriculum, ensuring that they receive a balanced, enriching educational experience. Provide targeted support to students preparing for SATs, focusing on building their confidence and skills in key areas. Assess student progress and use data to inform teaching, ensuring that individual learning needs are met. Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to take ownership of their learning. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency in teaching practices and high expectations for student achievement. Engage with parents and carers, keeping them informed about their child’s progress and providing advice for supporting learning at home. Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, particularly Year 6. In-depth knowledge of the National Curriculum and SATs preparation strategies. Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a focused and engaging learning environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
