Job description
The Opportunity A welcoming and high-achieving secondary academy in Northamptonshire is seeking a motivated Religious Education Teacher to join its Humanities faculty from January 2026. This full-time, permanent position offers an excellent opportunity for an Early Career Teacher to begin their teaching journey in a supportive and forward-thinking environment where professional growth is actively encouraged. What We’re Looking For We are seeking a teacher who: Holds QTS, PGCE or will be newly qualified in 2026 Has a strong academic background in Religious Education, Philosophy, or Ethics Can plan and deliver engaging lessons that encourage reflection, curiosity and critical thinking Uses assessment and feedback to support all students to make progress Is eager to learn, collaborate and contribute to a positive departmental culture An interest in pastoral care, enrichment activities or leading discussion groups on moral and social issues would be an advantage. The School Context This 11–18 academy serves a diverse and ambitious community and is part of a well-established multi-academy trust that prioritises teacher development and wellbeing. The school has a clear vision for success, combining high academic expectations with strong pastoral support and a commitment to personal growth for both students and staff. The Humanities faculty is an enthusiastic and collaborative team that plays a central role in the curriculum. Religious Education is valued for its ability to help students explore beliefs, values and ethical questions in an inclusive and thought-provoking way. Teachers in the department work closely together, sharing ideas, resources and best practice to ensure consistency and quality across all year groups. As an ECT, you will be supported through a structured induction programme, regular mentoring and access to trust-wide professional development. You will also have opportunities to observe experienced colleagues, participate in training sessions, and gradually take on more responsibility as your confidence grows. What’s on Offer A comprehensive ECT induction and mentoring programme Excellent professional development and progression opportunities across the trust A collaborative, friendly and supportive staff community Modern teaching facilities and access to digital learning tools A competitive salary and benefits package The Role in More Detail You will teach Religious Education across KS3 and KS4, using creative and engaging approaches to help students explore faith, morality, and philosophy. You will assess and track progress effectively, ensuring that every student is challenged and supported appropriately. You will contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development and enrichment activities such as debates, cultural events and discussion forums. As you develop in your role, you will have the opportunity to take part in wider school initiatives and leadership development pathways. How to Apply If you are an enthusiastic and reflective Religious Education Teacher — whether newly qualified or in the early stages of your career — and are eager to work in a supportive, high-achieving school community, we would love to hear from you. Please send your CV. Early applications are encouraged, as interviews may be arranged before the closing date.
