Job description
A highly academic independent school in Islington, Inner London, known for cultivating intellectual curiosity and excellent examination results, seeks a permanent, full-time History Teacher (Master) starting January 2026. This school provides an exceptional working environment defined by smaller class sizes and a commitment to deep, inquiry-based learning. Responsibilities Deliver stimulating and comprehensive History teaching across all Key Stages, including specialist modules at A-Level focusing on academic depth. Commit fully to developing pupils' critical thinking, source analyse, and sophisticated essay writing skills. Actively participate in departmental development, sharing expertise and contributing to external examination marking (desirable). Provide rigorous academic guidance and support to individual pupils, contributing to high rates of university entrance. Take on pastoral responsibility within a section of the school as a dedicated History Teacher. Requirements A degree in History and demonstrable experience teaching high-achieving pupils (QTS/PGCE preferred). Proven track record of strong classroom management and fostering a highly motivated learning environment. Seeking a History Teacher committed to the core values of the school and the pursuit of academic excellence. The ability to run or contribute to co-curricular activities (e.g., historical society, Model United Nations). The successful History Teacher must demonstrate an alignment with the school's focus on pastoral excellence.
