Job description
Head of Modern Foreign Languages – Outstanding Secondary School, Redbridge Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School information: This is a 11 to 18 well-established, Outstanding Ofsted Rated School in Redbridge with a strong commitment to high standards, student wellbeing and continuous improvement. The school serves a diverse community and is known for its inclusive ethos, where strong relationships and high expectations underpin daily practice. Students are respectful, motivated and eager to succeed, creating a calm and purposeful learning environment. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum that encourages academic achievement alongside personal development, preparing students well for further education and future careers. MFL Department: The MFL department is a vibrant and ambitious faculty that plays a key role in the school’s curriculum and wider enrichment programme. Languages are highly valued across the school, with strong uptake at GCSE and growing numbers at A Level. The department offers a broad curriculum that includes French and Spanish, with opportunities to develop additional languages depending on staff expertise. Teaching is supported by strong schemes of work, excellent resources, and a focus on cultural enrichment through trips, language events, and international opportunities. The successful candidate will lead a motivated team committed to raising attainment, promoting cultural awareness, and developing confident communicators. Requirements • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Languages or a related discipline • Experience teaching MFL at secondary level • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a team • Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering GCSE (A Level desirable) • Excellent organisational and curriculum planning skills • Commitment to inclusion, student achievement and high standards • Strong classroom management and a passion for language learning Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
