Job description
Are you a motivated and passionate SEN Teacher with a commitment to supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you looking for a rewarding new opportunity in a nurturing, inclusive school community where every child is valued and empowered to thrive? We are excited to offer a full-time, permanent position for a Primary SEN (SEMH) Teacher at a dedicated specialist provision in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, starting in January 2026. This role is ideal for someone with experience or a strong interest in working with children who have SEMH needs. For the right candidate, there is also potential for a TLR linked to leadership in an area such as behaviour support, curriculum development, or pastoral care. About the School Located in Hemel Hempstead, our specialist setting provides a safe, structured and supportive environment for primary-aged children with SEMH needs. The Role Position: SEN Teacher (Primary – SEMH) Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire Start Date: January 2026 Contract: Permanent, Full-Time TLR: Available for the right candidate In this role, you will: Teach a small class of primary pupils with SEMH needs, supported by experienced teaching assistants Develop and deliver creative, individualised lessons that engage and support pupils at different developmental levels Foster emotional regulation, resilience and self-esteem through a trauma-informed approach Collaborate with therapists, support staff, families and external agencies to support holistic development Contribute to the wider life of the school, with potential to lead on key areas (if applying for TLR) What We’re Looking For A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with experience or a strong interest in working with children with SEMH A patient, compassionate and resilient practitioner who understands the importance of emotional development alongside academic progress Someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to inclusive, child-centred education Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships A reflective educator willing to adapt, learn and grow with the role Applications welcomed from both experienced teachers and ECTs with a passion for SEN What We Offer A supportive and forward-thinking specialist setting focused on nurturing and progress Small class sizes and a high adult-to-pupil ratio A strong, values-led leadership team who prioritise staff wellbeing Opportunities for career development and training in areas like trauma-informed practice, de-escalation and SEND strategies The possibility of a TLR for leadership in a specific area of school development Access to a wide network of trust schools and shared resources A welcoming environment in Hemel Hempstead, with easy access to Hertfordshire and North London How to Apply If you're ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with SEMH and thrive in a caring and supportive team, we’d love to hear from you.
