Job description
An independent School seeking an enthusiastic and creative Year 1 Teacher to join its Early Years and KS1 team in Manchester from January 2026. This Independent School is proud of its nurturing environment, small class sizes and strong pastoral care. The appointed Year 1 Teacher will start planning before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026 and be in the classroom from January 2026 as the Year 1 Teacher. The Independent School setting allows the Year 1 Teacher to focus on high-quality interactions, personalised feedback and an ambitious early literacy programme. School information: • Independent School in Manchester with a supportive leadership team and well-resourced KS1 spaces to support the Year 1 Teacher. • Small classes and a strong pastoral programme mean the Year 1 Teacher can work closely with families and TAs. • An emphasis on evidence-informed practice and structured CPD for every Year 1 Teacher. Year 1 Teacher Responsibilities: The Year 1 Teacher will deliver systematic phonics, guided reading and sequenced writing as the Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will design practical mathematics sessions, lead focused interventions and use formative assessment to personalise learning as the Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will run parent workshops, prepare transition materials and contribute to whole-school events as the Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will prepare classroom resources prior to January 2026 and will begin teaching from January 2026. Year 1 Teacher Requirements: We seek a Year 1 Teacher with QTS or equivalent, confident KS1 practice and excellent communication skills. The Year 1 Teacher should be reflective, organised and experienced in phonics delivery. Availability for planning before January 2026, induction in January 2026 and a Full-Time start from January 2026 is essential. The Year 1 Teacher must be committed to the Independent School ethos and eager to contribute to the school's development.
