Job description
We are seeking a confident, enthusiastic, and experienced Year 5 Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Clacton, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Upper Key Stage 2 and enjoys delivering high-quality lessons that engage, challenge, and inspire pupils to achieve their best. The Role As a Year 5 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across all areas of the curriculum. You will foster resilience, independence, and positive learning behaviours in pupils, while providing the academic, social, and emotional support necessary to ensure they thrive. A key part of your role will be preparing pupils for Year 6 and supporting their progress towards statutory assessments. You will work closely with teaching assistants, Key Stage 2 colleagues, and senior leadership to maintain high standards and consistency across the year group. Communication with parents and carers is essential to support pupils’ learning and progress both at home and in school. Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 5 curriculum Track and monitor pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL learners Promote independence, resilience, and positive learning behaviours Maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants and KS2 colleagues Communicate regularly with parents and carers about pupil progress Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and school-wide initiatives Support extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote pupil wellbeing Who We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5 Be confident delivering literacy, numeracy, and foundation subjects Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing Work collaboratively as part of a professional and supportive team What the School Offers A collaborative and supportive KS2 teaching team Clear guidance and structured planning support Opportunities for professional development and CPD Well-resourced classrooms and learning spaces Motivated, engaged, and happy pupils A positive and inclusive school culture Location The school is located in Clacton, with excellent transport links and a friendly local community.
