Job description
A prestigious Independent School in Harrow is seeking a permanent, full-time Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Design Technology, starting January 2026. This is a dynamic role for a teacher passionate about practical design and innovation. About the School This established independent school is committed to providing a broad and challenging education, with a strong emphasis on practical subjects and creativity. The DT department boasts state-of-the-art workshops and equipment, enabling high-level project work. The school culture encourages independent and deep thinking from both staff and students, and you will be fully supported by experienced colleagues who uphold a standard of holistic excellence. Responsibilities You will deliver practical and theoretical instruction across Key Stages 3, 4 (GCSE/iGCSE), and 5 (A-Level). Your focus is driving high attainment in design principles, materials technology, and technical drawing. You will be fully integrated into the school's mentoring process, receiving dedicated support for your initial years. You will contribute to the maintenance and development of the department's resources and workshop environment. Requirements You must hold or be soon to obtain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (desirable but not essential for independent schools). You must have the right to work in the UK. You must hold a Degree or have experience teaching Design Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
