Job description
Welfare Officer – Good Secondary School – Hull Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information This Good 11–18 secondary school in Hull is known for its strong pastoral care systems and improving academic outcomes. The school serves a mixed and diverse community and places high importance on student wellbeing, attendance, and early intervention. The leadership team has invested significantly in student support services, including mentoring, safeguarding, and welfare provision. Behaviour systems are clear, consistent, and supportive. The school is seeking a compassionate and proactive Welfare Officer to strengthen its pastoral team. Role Overview The Welfare Officer will support student wellbeing, attendance, and safeguarding processes. Key responsibilities include: Supporting students with pastoral concerns Managing minor medical issues and first aid Liaising with parents regarding welfare matters Supporting attendance monitoring Assisting with safeguarding referrals Supporting vulnerable and at-risk students Working closely with Heads of Year Recording welfare concerns accurately Supporting reintegration meetings Liaising with external agencies This role requires strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilience. Pastoral & Safeguarding Team The Welfare Officer works closely with the Safeguarding Lead, Attendance Officer, and pastoral leaders. Candidate Requirements Experience in welfare or pastoral support Strong understanding of safeguarding Ability to build positive relationships with students Excellent communication skills Organised and calm under pressure First aid qualification (desirable) Commitment to student wellbeing Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
