Teaching Assistants are valued as integral members of the EYFS team and are actively involved in planning, delivery, and assessment. Role Purpose The EYFS Teaching Assistant will support children in Nursery and Reception , helping them develop early learning skills, independence, and confidence. You will support both teacher-led and child-initiated activities and provide targeted support to children with additional needs. Many pupils benefit from support with speech and language, SEN, EAL, and emotional development , making this role ideal for someone passionate about inclusive early education. Key Responsibilities Support daily learning activities in line with the EYFS framework Work with small groups and individual pupils to support development goals Support children with SEN, speech delay, and social communication needs Assist with phonics, early writing, counting, and number activities Promote positive behaviour, routines, and emotional regulation Support learning through indoor and outdoor play Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and organised learning environment Observe and record children’s progress and share feedback with teachers Support children during transitions and unstructured times Work collaboratively with teachers, EYFS leads, SENCO, and parents Follow safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times The Ideal Candidate The school is seeking a committed and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant who: Has experience in EYFS, Nursery, or early years settings Understands child development and early learning principles Has experience or interest in SEN and inclusive education Is calm, patient, and emotionally responsive Works well as part of a team Is proactive, reliable, and reflective in practice Professional Development The school offers structured induction and ongoing training in: EYFS pedagogy Supporting SEN and EAL learners Behaviour and emotional wellbeing Safeguarding and early childhood development There are clear opportunities for progression into SEN TA roles, HLTA, or teacher training.
