School Business Manager – Independent Secondary School – Ipswich Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale School Information This established independent 11–18 secondary school in Ipswich is known for its strong academic outcomes, supportive community ethos, and high professional standards. The school combines traditional educational values with modern management systems and offers a broad and ambitious curriculum. Leadership prioritises operational excellence, financial sustainability, and regulatory compliance. The campus includes modern teaching facilities, specialist classrooms, and secure administrative offices. Governance structures are robust and proactive, with clear strategic oversight. Due to strategic development and continued growth, the school is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking School Business Manager. Role Overview The School Business Manager will be responsible for overseeing the school’s operational functions and contributing to strategic leadership. Key responsibilities include: Leading financial planning and budget management Preparing financial reports for Governors and Trustees Overseeing HR and recruitment compliance Managing health and safety procedures Supervising premises and facilities management Managing procurement and contracts Supporting long-term strategic planning Leading administrative and finance teams Ensuring regulatory compliance Contributing to whole-school development strategy This is a senior leadership role requiring strategic thinking and strong operational expertise. Operations Team The School Business Manager works directly with the Headteacher and Governing Board. The operational team includes finance officers, HR support, and premises staff.
