Job description
An independent school in Surrey is seeking a passionate and dedicated KS1 / Year 1 Teacher to join their team starting in January 2026 . In this role, you will deliver high-quality education to Year 1 students, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development. You will work within a nurturing and collaborative team to create an engaging learning environment where every child can thrive. Teacher Role · January 2026 Start · Full-Time · Permanent Contract The School This welcoming and inclusive independent school in Surrey provides a stimulating environment for young learners. The curriculum is tailored to the needs of KS1 students, encouraging curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. The supportive atmosphere ensures that all children feel valued, motivated, and empowered to reach their potential. Teacher Responsibilities · Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons for Year 1 students, meeting curriculum requirements. · Implement engaging teaching strategies to inspire and motivate learners. · Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and setting targets for improvement. · Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect and collaboration. · Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about student progress and wellbeing. · Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum resources and share best practices. · Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as required. Teacher Requirements · Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. · Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. · Experience teaching Year 1 or KS1 students in a primary school setting. · Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and KS1 assessment methods. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. · Ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs. · Commitment to ongoing professional development and current educational practices. · Flexibility and teamwork skills to thrive in a collaborative environment.
