Job description
The Headteacher of this well-established secondary school in Luton is seeking to appoint a skilled and dependable Design Technology Technician to support the effective delivery of DT lessons from January . This is a key support role within the school, working closely with DT teaching staff to ensure workshops are safe, well organised, and fully prepared for practical learning. This position would suit an experienced DT Technician or an individual with a strong background in practical trades, manufacturing, engineering, or workshop-based environments who is looking to transition into education. The school offers a structured and supportive working environment where technical staff are valued as an essential part of the department. You will be responsible for preparing materials and equipment for lessons, maintaining tools and machinery, supporting health and safety procedures, and ensuring DT spaces remain clean, compliant, and ready for use. There is a strong emphasis on safe working practices and supporting students to access practical learning confidently. What the school is looking for: Luton January Start Design Technology Technician Full-Time | Permanent Experience working in a workshop or technical environment Strong knowledge of health and safety and COSHH procedures Ability to maintain, repair, and organise tools and machinery Experience preparing materials for practical lessons A proactive, reliable, and well-organised approach Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively The successful DT Technician will play a vital role in supporting the department, ensuring lessons run smoothly and safely while maintaining high standards across DT facilities.
