Job description
A busy and well-organised secondary school in Rainham is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join its finance team. This is a full-time, permanent role, ideal for someone with excellent numerical skills, strong attention to detail, and experience in administrative or financial support within an educational or similar setting. The Finance Assistant is a key member of the administration team, supporting the smooth financial operations of the school, including record-keeping, invoicing, and supporting the leadership team with budget management. Role Responsibilities As a Finance Assistant, your responsibilities will include: Processing invoices, purchase orders, and payments accurately and on time. Maintaining financial records and databases, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Assisting with the preparation of budgets, reports, and financial summaries for management. Supporting the collection and recording of school income, including trips, dinners, and other fees. Liaising with staff, suppliers, and external agencies regarding financial transactions and queries. Ensuring compliance with school financial policies, procedures, and statutory regulations. Supporting the finance team with administrative tasks and general office duties as required. Candidate Requirements Previous experience in finance, accounts, or administrative roles. Strong numerical and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and finance systems. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Professional, reliable, and proactive with strong communication skills.
