Job description
Are you an experienced School Business Manager looking for a senior operational role beginning January 2026? Do you want to join a school in Chelsea where excellent financial control, efficient operations and clear governance are priorities? Wayman Education is pleased to recruit a School Business Manager for a forward-thinking school in Chelsea. The successful School Business Manager will lead the finance and operations function, manage budgets, oversee payroll and pensions, and ensure compliant systems across the school. The School Business Manager will also manage premises, procurement and the administrative team, reporting directly to the Headteacher and governors. This is an opportunity for a strategic School Business Manager to influence long-term financial planning from January 2026. Position Details School Business Manager – School, Chelsea Start Date – January 2026 Contract – Permanent, Full-Time Salary – Competitive, dependent on experience The Role As School Business Manager, you will prepare annual budgets, produce monthly management accounts and lead audit preparations. The School Business Manager will manage cashflow, oversee payroll and pensions, negotiate supplier contracts and maintain robust internal controls. You will line-manage finance and administrative staff and provide clear financial reporting to governors. The appointed School Business Manager will be expected to commence duties in January 2026, supporting the school’s financial planning process from January 2026. The School This Chelsea school offers strong community engagement, excellent facilities and good local transport links. The School Business Manager will be based in Chelsea and will be part of a collaborative leadership team that values transparency and accountability. Person specification for the School Business Manager: • Qualified accountant or equivalent experience as a School Business Manager. • Demonstrable experience of school budgets, payroll and management accounts as a School Business Manager. • Strong leadership and communication skills; able to start January 2026 in Chelsea.
