Job description
A supportive and well-structured 11–18 secondary school in the Ripley area is seeking a History Teacher to join its Humanities department from January 2026. This post is ideally suited to an Early Career Teacher looking for a confident and well-supported start to their teaching career. The History department has a clear, carefully sequenced curriculum and a strong track record of developing ECTs into confident practitioners. Collaboration, reflective practice and consistent routines are central to the department’s approach. The role will involve: Teaching History across KS3–KS4 Delivering enquiry-led lessons focused on source analysis and extended writing Using shared schemes of work and assessments to support consistency Working closely with an experienced subject mentor Support for ECTs includes: Reduced timetable in line with the ECT framework Weekly mentoring meetings and regular instructional coaching Structured CPD focused on planning, behaviour and assessment Opportunities to observe experienced colleagues This is an excellent opportunity for a History ECT who wants to build strong foundations in a calm, professional environment.
