SENCo – Outstanding Secondary School – Christchurch – September Start Location: Christchurch Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: L1-L9 An experienced and dedicated SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) is required for an outstanding secondary school in Christchurch. The school is known for its strong support for students with a variety of additional learning needs, including dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and more. Your Role as SENCo: Lead and manage the SEN department, ensuring high standards of support for students with special educational needs and disabilities. Oversee the development of individual education plans (IEPs) and ensure that interventions are tailored to the needs of each student. Work closely with teaching staff to provide advice and strategies for supporting students with additional needs in the classroom. Monitor and track the progress of students with SEN, ensuring that targets are met and progress is tracked effectively. Provide guidance and training for staff on SEN best practices, ensuring the school remains compliant with relevant legislation and guidelines. Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents and carers, ensuring open lines of communication about students’ progress and wellbeing. Who We’re Looking For: A qualified teacher with experience working in special education and a deep understanding of SEND provisions. A strong understanding of the Code of Practice for SEN and experience in creating and implementing IEPs. Excellent leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a team of teaching assistants. A proactive approach to developing SEN provision within a mainstream school setting. Excellent communication skills, both with students and external agencies. Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one).
