Job description
A distinguished Independent School in Cambridge is seeking an imaginative Reception Teacher to join its Early Years team on a Full-Time basis from January 2026. The Reception Teacher role at this Independent School balances playful, child-led provision with intentional teaching; the successful Reception Teacher will be involved in planning before January 2026, take part in a structured induction during January 2026, and be in-class from January 2026 as a Full-Time Reception Teacher. This Independent School blends academic ambition with a nurturing EYFS culture. The Reception Teacher will be supported by experienced assistants and will access focused CPD from January 2026. The Reception Teacher will find small classes, specialist resources and a collegiate staffroom where collaborative planning starts well before January 2026 and continues through January 2026 and beyond. As Reception Teacher, you will benefit from mentor coaching, research-led resources and opportunities to lead family-engagement workshops after the January 2026 start. What the Reception Teacher will do The Reception Teacher will design and lead high-quality continuous provision, deliver daily phonics and language sessions, and lead early mathematics and physical development activities. The Reception Teacher will use systematic observation to assess children against the Early Learning Goals, plan meaningful next steps and share progress with families. The Reception Teacher will support transition into Year 1 and will contribute to whole-school curriculum conversations that begin in preparation for January 2026 and continue after January 2026. Candidate profile — Reception Teacher We are looking for a Reception Teacher with QTS/EYTS (or equivalent), strong EYFS practice and a reflective approach. The Reception Teacher should be warm, organised and confident in both adult-led and child-initiated pedagogy. The Reception Teacher will be expected to begin pre-term planning ahead of January 2026, to attend the induction week in January 2026, and to teach from January 2026 as a Full-Time Reception Teacher.
