Job description
A well-established independent senior school in Nottinghamshire is seeking a passionate and academically strong Teacher of History to join its successful Humanities faculty. This is an excellent opportunity to teach History in a school that values scholarship, discussion and intellectual independence. The school has a long-standing reputation for strong examination outcomes and for preparing pupils exceptionally well for university study, particularly in humanities and social sciences. The Role You will teach History across Key Stages 3–5 , including GCSE and A-Level. The curriculum is broad and academically rigorous, covering British, European and global history, with a strong emphasis on source analysis, extended writing and independent research. Lessons are discussion-rich and encourage pupils to question interpretations, evaluate evidence and develop confident, well-structured arguments. At Sixth Form, students are highly engaged and enjoy seminar-style teaching and independent study projects. The History Department The department is a strength of the school and is well regarded by pupils and parents alike. Teachers work collaboratively on curriculum planning and assessment, sharing resources and approaches while retaining professional autonomy in the classroom. History is a popular subject at A-Level, with many pupils progressing to Russell Group universities to study History, Politics, Law and related disciplines.
