Job description
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a passionate and academically strong Chemistry Teacher to join a prestigious Independent School in Hertfordshire . This is a full-time, permanent position, available for either an immediate or January start, depending on the availability of the successful candidate. The school welcomes applications from both experienced Chemistry Teachers and confident Early Career Teachers seeking to develop within a high-performing independent setting. The Role You will be responsible for teaching Chemistry across KS3 and KS4 , with the opportunity to teach A-Level Chemistry (KS5) for suitable candidates. The department is academically ambitious, well-resourced, and supported by specialist technicians, allowing for a strong practical and investigative approach to teaching. Pupils are inquisitive, motivated, and thrive in lessons that challenge them intellectually. You will contribute to: High-quality classroom teaching across all year groups Practical laboratory work and investigative learning GCSE and A-Level exam preparation Stretch and challenge for high-attaining learners Co-curricular Science enrichment and academic clubs (optional) The school values teachers who inspire curiosity, confidence, and independent thinking beyond the specification. Candidate Requirements Degree in Chemistry or related subject QTS, PGCE, or equivalent recognised teaching qualification Ability to teach Chemistry up to GCSE, with KS5 preferred Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Science education High expectations of pupil progress and behaviour Commitment to professional development and teamwork Salary The salary for this position will be paid on a competitive Independent School pay scale , dependent on experience and qualifications.
