Job description
Overview Join Avantis Group as a Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) Inspector and play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance across marine, energy, and industrial projects. The QA/QC Inspector will work closely with project management, engineering, and site construction teams to verify that materials, workmanship, and processes meet contractual, regulatory, and company requirements. Carry out systematic inspections, tests, and verification activities across fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases to assure product and process quality. Maintain rigorous documentation of inspection results, non-conformances, corrective actions, and test records to support traceability and client reporting. Support continuous improvement by identifying trends, proposing corrective/preventive actions, and promoting best practice quality processes across multicultural project teams. Key Responsibilities – QA/QC Inspector Perform planned and unscheduled inspections of materials, components, assemblies, and finished works against drawings, specifications, and applicable standards. Execute and witness tests, NDT (e.g., MT, PT, UT, RT where applicable), dimensional checks, and functional verifications in accordance with inspection and test plans (ITPs). Raise, record and follow-up non-conformance reports (NCRs); verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions. Review supplier and subcontractor quality documentation including certificates of conformity, material test reports (MTRs), and inspection packing lists. Ensure calibration status of measurement and test equipment and maintain records for traceability. Support quality planning by contributing to inspection and test plans, quality checklists, and hold point definitions; advise on acceptance criteria and risk areas. Collaborate with site teams to ensure timely resolution of quality issues and to prevent recurrence through lessons learned and training where needed. Prepare clear, accurate inspection reports and provide regular updates to the Quality Manager and project stakeholders. Promote a culture of quality, safety and inclusivity across the workforce, engaging with diverse teams and contractors to deliver consistent outcomes. Essential Qualifications and Skills Proven experience as a QA/QC Inspector or similar role within shipbuilding, marine, heavy industry, or industrial fabrication environments. Relevant qualifications in Quality, Welding Inspection, NDT, or an engineering discipline (e.g., CSWIP, IWE, PCN, NVQ/HNC/HND or equivalent) are desirable. Practical knowledge of inspection techniques, NDT methods, welding standards, and material test documentation. Familiarity with international standards and codes relevant to marine and industrial projects (e.g., ISO9001, EN, AWS, DNV, Lloyd’s) and ability to apply them in practice. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to prepare clear inspection reports and interact with multicultural teams. Competent in using digital inspection tools and maintaining electronic quality records; MS Office proficiency is desirable. Willingness to work on-site in shipyards or industrial facilities, with flexibility for site hours and travel as required by project schedules. Personal Attributes Objective, professional, and impartial inspector who upholds integrity and transparency in all quality activities. Collaborative team member who respects diversity and fosters inclusive working relationships with colleagues and contractors. Proactive, solution-focused, and resilient when managing competing priorities in a dynamic project environment. Committed to continuous improvement, learning, and sharing best practice to enhance quality performance across projects. Benefits of Working with Avantis Group – QA Careers Contribute to high-profile marine and industrial projects that prioritise quality, safety and sustainability. Be part of an inclusive, international team with opportunities for professional development and career progression. Competitive remuneration and comprehensive benefits aligned with role and experience. How to Apply – QA/QC Inspector If you are committed to delivering exceptional quality and wish to join a team that values diversity and fairness, we welcome your application. Avantis Group encourages candidates of any gender, background, or identity to apply. Please submit your CV and a brief covering statement detailing relevant QA/QC experience and certifications.
