Job description
We are working with a leading independent school in Brent recruiting for a Teacher of Religious Education. This is a scholarly department that treats RE as a rigorous academic discipline focused on philosophy, ethics, and the history of ideas. The School Located in a vibrant part of Brent, this school is renowned for its intellectual curiosity and inclusive atmosphere. The RE department is highly respected, providing a space where students are encouraged to grapple with "big questions" through disciplined debate and critical analysis. The school offers a refined working environment where small class sizes allow for deep, seminar-style discussions. The Role You will teach Religious Education across the senior school, inspiring students through a curriculum that explores the intersection of faith, culture, and modern ethics. Start Date: ASAP (Full-time, Permanent) Key responsibilities include: Philosophical Enquiry: Delivering high-level lessons on moral philosophy, the philosophy of religion, and the historical development of world faiths. Academic Rigour: Preparing students for GCSE and A-Level Religious Studies, focusing on sophisticated essay writing and the evaluation of complex theological arguments. Seminar Leadership: Facilitating respectful yet challenging classroom debates on contemporary ethical issues, from bioethics to social justice. Cultural Capital: Organising visits to diverse places of worship and hosting guest speakers from various philosophical and faith backgrounds.
