Job description
A well-regarded 11–18 school in Derby is recruiting a driven Maths ECT to join its welcoming Mathematics department from January 2026 . The School This large, diverse school holds a Good Ofsted rating and is recognised for its strong behaviour culture, clear routines and excellent pastoral support. Staff describe the environment as “structured, calm and consistent”. They are ideal conditions for new teachers to develop confidence. The Maths department has a collaborative ethos, with a mastery-style curriculum and shared schemes that reduce workload and support pacing. The Role You’ll teach Maths across KS3–KS4 , with opportunities to observe and support A-Level lessons. You’ll have: A dedicated Maths mentor A reduced timetable Weekly coaching (instructional coaching model) Access to well-structured slides, booklets and model examples ECT Support Includes Targeted CPD on modelling, explanation and questioning Regular team meetings and co-planning Structured assessment guidance Supportive SLT behaviour walk-throughs You Will Bring QTS in Mathematics Strong numeracy and conceptual understanding Resilience, organisation and a positive mindset Commitment to student progress and consistent routines If you’re a Maths ECT seeking a well-run, ambitious school where teaching is valued and supported, this is an outstanding opportunity.
