Job description
A well-resourced secondary school in Chiswick is seeking an experienced and proactive Premises Manager to lead its facilities team. This is a full-time, permanent role, ideal for someone with strong leadership and organisational skills, practical facilities management experience, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient, and welcoming school environment. The Premises Manager plays a crucial leadership role, overseeing site maintenance, health and safety compliance, and the day-to-day operation of school facilities. Role Responsibilities As Premises Manager, your responsibilities will include: Leading and managing the school’s site and facilities team, including caretakers and site assistants. Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are well-maintained, clean, and safe at all times. Overseeing maintenance, repairs, and improvement projects, liaising with contractors and suppliers. Monitoring and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire safety, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures. Managing the school’s premises budget, procurement, and inventory of equipment and supplies. Planning and coordinating setup and support for school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities. Implementing and updating premises policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency. Candidate Requirements Significant experience in facilities or premises management, ideally in a school or educational setting. Leadership experience with the ability to manage a team effectively. Knowledge of health and safety, risk assessments, and safe working practices. Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work proactively, independently, and collaboratively. Reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining high standards.
