Job description
A welcoming and reliable secondary school in York is seeking a proactive Caretaker to join their premises team ASAP . This is a full-time, permanent position responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented school environment. • Caretaker – full-time, permanent • Secondary school in York • Year-round position • ASAP start • Competitive support staff salary About the Role The Caretaker will support the day-to-day running of the school site, ensuring that buildings and grounds are well-maintained and safe for staff, pupils, and visitors. Key responsibilities include: • Opening and closing the school site • Carrying out basic maintenance and minor repairs • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations • Setting up rooms for lessons, exams, and events • Monitoring site security and responding to alarms • Assisting with contractor supervision and deliveries The Ideal Candidate • Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, or facilities • Basic DIY and maintenance skills • Understanding of health and safety procedures • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Reliable, punctual, and proactive • Commitment to safeguarding and site security About the School This York secondary school prioritises a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
