Job description
Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion – Maternity Cover (One Year) Start Date: ASAP (Flexible for the Right Candidate) Salary: Leadership Scale (Dependent on Experience) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion to join a vibrant and forward-thinking primary school community. This one-year maternity cover position offers the chance to lead and enhance inclusive practices within a supportive and dynamic environment. About Us: - Our school is a thriving, inclusive institution located in a vibrant and diverse community in Basingstoke, Hampshire. We are committed to providing every child with a supportive, nurturing environment where they can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. - The school prides itself on being an inclusive environment where every child, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), English as an Additional Language (EAL), and those from disadvantaged backgrounds, is given the highest standards of education and care. - Recent inspections have highlighted the school's commitment to excellence, with a strong emphasis on providing a well-rounded education where the well-being of both students and staff is prioritized. About the Role: As the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion, you will: - Lead the development and implementation of the school’s inclusion strategy, ensuring that all pupils, particularly those with additional needs, receive the necessary support to thrive. - Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to monitor and evaluate the impact of inclusion strategies, ensuring continuous improvement in outcomes for all students. - Provide strategic leadership for SEND, EAL, and disadvantaged pupils, developing and delivering tailored support plans in partnership with teachers, support staff, and external agencies. - Lead on professional development for staff, creating a culture of inclusion and equipping colleagues with the tools and strategies needed to meet the diverse needs of all pupils. What We Are Looking For: - A dedicated and experienced leader with a strong commitment to inclusive education and a deep understanding of the needs of SEND, EAL, and disadvantaged pupils. - Proven experience in a leadership role within a primary school setting, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and lead staff. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with pupils, parents, staff, and external agencies. - A clear vision for how inclusive practices can drive school improvement and improve outcomes for all children. - A proactive, solution-focused approach, with the ability to manage both strategic and operational aspects of the role. Why Choose Us: - A supportive, inclusive, and collaborative working environment where your ideas and contributions will be valued. - Opportunities for professional development and career progression, with the potential for a permanent role following the maternity cover, depending on circumstances. - A school that prioritizes the well-being of its staff and pupils, with a commitment to work-life balance and professional growth. Application Process: If you are passionate about inclusion and dedicated to making a difference, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application, including a detailed CV and a supporting statement outlining your experience and vision for inclusive education. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and other safeguarding checks. We look forward to receiving your application and welcoming an outstanding leader to our school community.
